Global Climbing Standard (GCS) has opened applications for its Early Access Programme, selecting climbing centres from around the world to be among the first to deliver the complete Global Climbing Standard live.
Centres will be selected from four regions: the UK, Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, creating the first international cohort of GCS-accredited centres ahead of wider global rollout.
Selected centres will receive full GCS accreditation, access to the complete five-stage framework for Stages 1 to 5 and the digital ecosystem, two days of online specialist training for their coaching teams, launch-ready communications and direct support from the GCS team. Early Access covers Stages 1 to 5; the Early Years stage is not part of the programme.

From global standard to live delivery
GCS is a digital-first progression standard developed specifically for indoor climbing.
The framework takes participants through five progressive stages, Stages 1 to 5, with progression assessed across six skill domains and recorded through a connected digital ecosystem.
For coaches, the Coach App allows progression to be assessed and recorded as part of real climbing sessions.
For parents, the Parent App provides greater visibility of feedback and development without having to wait until the end of a term or ask a coach for an individual update.
For centres, the Centre Console supports programme oversight and quality control, while automated parent communication and clearer evidence of progress can strengthen recruitment and retention. For learners and parents, Learner Profiles create a digital record of development and credentials designed to travel with the climber between accredited centres.
The Early Access Programme marks the point at which the complete GCS framework moves into live delivery across multiple international markets.
What Early Access centres receive
Selected centres will become fully accredited to deliver GCS and will receive access to the complete GCS digital ecosystem, including the Centre Console, Coach App, Parent App and Learner Profiles.
Their coaching teams will also complete two days of online specialist GCS training before launch:
- The Core Standard Workshop, covering the framework, five stages, six skill domains and assessment approach.
- The Coach Delivery Workshop, focusing on live session delivery, use of the Coach App and recording participant progression.
Centres will also receive a ready-to-use launch communications package, including parent emails, social media collateral, website content and in-centre materials to help introduce GCS to existing families and attract new participants into their climbing programmes.
Why an international first cohort?
The first GCS cohort has been deliberately designed to be international from the outset.
By selecting centres from the UK, Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, GCS will begin live delivery across different coaching environments and four global markets.
Early Access centres will also work directly with the GCS team throughout launch and early delivery, sharing their experience as preparations continue for wider international rollout.

Applications are open to climbing centres across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, including independent centres, multi-site operators and federation-linked facilities.
Applications close 30 September 2026, with the selected Early Access centres announced following the close of applications.
